Abu Dhabi Global Health Week Day 2

Day 2 of Abu Dhabi Global Health Week was equally informative and inspiring as the first. One of today's sessions focused on Abu Dhabi as a global healthcare and life sciences destination. Panelist included Dr. Tom Mihaljevic, CEO Cleveland Clinic; Martina Strong, US Ambassador to the UAE; and H.E Mansoor Al Mansoori, Executive Council Member and Chairman of the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi.

It's clear that the U.A.E. is aggressively executing a well-conceived strategy that relies on multiple stakeholder collaboration. I'm encouraged by how the Emirate Drugs Establishment (FDA equivalent) works alongside providers, researchers and payors and relies heavily on globally sourced information to develop its policies. I was fortunate to witness the formal signing of an agreement that will advance neuroscience research and positively affect the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's as well as other neurological diseases. This is just one example of the U.A.E.'s commitment to public-private partnerships in pursuit of HELM (Health, Endurance, Longevity & Medicine) for its citizens and the world.
